Learn how air compressors dissipate heatPosted by On

As long as there is movement, heat will definitely be generated, and the air compressor is also a machine. Of course, heat will also be generated during operation. So how exactly is this heat taken away? Take everyone to understand the cooling method and current status of the air compressor.

An air compressor that generates high-pressure air is a device that converts the mechanical energy of the prime mover into gas pressure energy. During the conversion of mechanical energy into gas pressure energy, air is strongly compressed. The temperature rose sharply, generating a lot of heat. The data show that the theoretical temperature of air temperature can reach 263 ° C when the air is compressed to 0.8 MPa in one stage. At the same time, high-speed operation of the mechanical parts of the air compressor will also generate a large amount of frictional heat. If this heat is not removed in time, the operating temperature of the air compressor will rise, the amount of air output will decrease, the power consumption will increase, and eventually the air compressor may be damaged. At present, air-cooled or water-cooled air compressors are commonly used to discharge these heat to the outside world. Using these methods and equipment to recover the waste heat generated by the air compressor can not only solve the cooling problem of the air compressor, but also maximize the use of energy.

No matter it is a piston type air compressor or a screw type air compressor, in order to ensure the performance of the oil and control the operating temperature of the machine, the air compressor must be cooled. The traditional cooling methods mainly include air cooling and water cooling. Generally, according to the exhaust capacity, medium and small air compressors are mostly air-cooled, and large and medium air compressors are mostly water-cooled. At the same time, the determination of the cooling method of the air compressor should also take into account the environmental temperature, humidity and local water resources, such as the low temperature in the north, dry air, and tight water resources. In the engineering design, the air-cooled air compressor should be considered first . Because the water cooling effect is better, it should be considered in conditional projects. At present, the cooling hot air of air-cooled air compressors is exhausted to the outdoors through air ducts using axial fans. The cooling system of a water-cooled air compressor consists of a hot water pump, a cooling tower cold water pump, and a pipeline. The cooling hot water discharged from the air compressor is discharged to the cooling tower through a hot water circulation pump, and the hot water is cooled and then supplied to the air compressor for recycling through the cold water pump. Regardless of the air-cooled or water-cooled mode, all the heat energy generated during the operation of the air compressor is dissipated to the ambient air, and the axial flow fan and water pump used in the cooling process need to consume energy.

In the traditional engineering design of industrial and mining enterprises, each system is often designed independently by different majors, which is a self-contained system and not related to each other. For example, the air compressor water cooling system is a self-contained system and operates independently. Users who need hot water for heating, baths, and canteens design boiler heating and hot water according to the heat load and water consumption. In this way, one side is to exhaust the waste heat of the system into the atmosphere, which not only causes waste of energy, but also causes thermal pollution to the environment. On the other side, a large amount of fuel such as coal contingent gas is consumed to heat the cold water. For a long time, this method of designing isolated systems has caused a lot of energy waste.
